Fruit Root Prayers

“You didn’t choose me, remember; I chose you, and put you in the world to bear fruit, fruit that won’t spoil. As fruit bearers, whatever you ask the Father in relation to me, he gives you.

“But remember the root command: Love one another.”

John 15:16-17 MSG

I hear it often that if you ask in the name of Jesus God will answer all of your prayers. I think the Message Translation speaks better of what this actually means. Too often I hear prayers like, “In the name of Jesus, I will get this car! I will get this money. I will get this person to change who they are.” I used to ask why they thought Jesus cared if they had a Toyota or a Tesla. I always got the response that point to this verse. “Jesus said ask for it and it will be so.”

Jesus said, “As fruit bearers,” we should ask. “In relation to me,” would mean the good stuff. The real good stuff. I do not think that means the earthly belongings, but prayers that enhance the fruits and emulate Jesus. If God surely grants those prayers and we prayed more of those prayers, what a beautiful Kingdom On Earth we would have.
